Two ponies killed in five animal crashes on New Forest roads last week




FIVE crashes involving commoners' animals were reported to the verderers last week, including two fatalities.

Last Monday at around 8.30pm there was a collision between a vehicle and a bay mare in the Fernycroft to Ipley area.

Agister Mike Lovell attended but the pony was killed at the scene.

Blackhills Road was the scene of a further accident at around 6.53pm last Wednesday evening when a foal was also killed.

Later the same evening at around 11pm the verderers received a report of an crash at Hilltop on the B3054, but the pony was unhurt.

Last Friday at 5pm a motorist reported a collision involving a black cow on the B3078 at Claypits. Agister Jonathan Gerrelli attended and the cow was found to be unhurt.

Finally on Sunday at 6.30pm, agisters investigated reports of an accident involving a pony on the Burley Road at Thorney Hill. However, the animal could not be found.
