Bransgore man Daniel Jones to stand trial at Bournemouth Crown Court accused of raft of violent offences alleged to have happened at Tesco Extra on Riverside Avenue and Littledown Leisure Centre on Chaseside
A BRANSGORE man is set to stand trial accused of a raft of violent offences.
All 15 charges against Daniel Jones (21), of Rosehill Drive, are related to disturbances reported in Bournemouth on Tuesday 3rd June, Poole Magistrates’ Court heard.
Detectives charged Jones after an investigation into multiple reports from around 4pm that day that a man attacked various members of the public in the Littledown area.
The offences were said to have been committed at the Tesco Extra store on Riverside Avenue and the Littledown Leisure Centre on Chaseside.
There were also reports a man used racially abusive language towards several victims, and vandalised Tesco’s Holland & Barratt section.
Jones faces three counts of racially aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm against three different people.
He faces three other assault occasioning actual bodily harm charges relating to three people, along with two counts of racially or religiously aggravated criminal damage involving mobile phones.
Jones is charged with three other counts of criminal damage, involving two mobile phones, and multiple items and store fixtures and fittings.
As well as these, he is accused of intentional strangulation against a man, possessing an offensive weapon – a wooden plank – in a public place; and affray by using or threatening to use unlawful violence.
He is also charged with making threats to kill.
Jones made no pleas when he appeared in court last Thursday, and he was remanded in custody to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on 10th July for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
Investigations into the 3rd June disturbances have been continuing, with witnesses urged to come forward.
Officers also want to hear from those who may have captured any useful video footage through dash cam, home CCTV or doorbell camera.
