A CRASH in Hythe saw a driver from Wales banned from the roads for 20 months.
Waterside Neighbourhood Policing Team officers responded to reports of a car being driven erratically before it ploughed into a kerb and verge on Langdown Lawn on 6th February.
Having been arrested at the scene, Rhys Evans (47), of Charles Street, Brithdir, Gwynedd, was more than twice the alcohol limit and has now been convicted of drink-driving.
As well as being handed the disqualification at Southampton Magistrates’ Court, Evans was fined more than £800.
Sharing pictures of the crash’s aftermath online after the sentencing, local police said: “Just a reminder from us – do not drink and drive!”
