Walk-in Covid-19 jabs at Hythe fire station today
A POP-UP Covid-19 vaccination site will be at Hythe fire station today (Tuesday) for people to walk in for their first, second or booster jab.
It is part of a plan which will also make 34,000 additional appointments for vaccines available across Hampshire during half-term.
Hythe fire station, in New Road, will be open from 1pm to 8pm.
Walk-in clinics, GP surgeries and pharmacies across the county will benefit from the extra slots, with teenagers in particular being encouraged to get their jabs.
Children aged 12-15 can get a first dose of the vaccine from the day they turn 12 but they must attend for their jabs with a parent or guardian who can provide consent.
Vaccinations continue to be available by booking at the following chemists: AR Pharmacy, Totton; Ashley Pharmacy, New Milton; Jay's Pharmacy, Dibden Purlieu; and Martin’s Pharmacy, Brockenhurst.
Dr Matt Nisbet, GP and clinical lead of the Covid-19 vaccination programme, said: “The vaccine is still our best protection against the virus, and I would encourage anyone eligible to get their jab, or to chat to any of our staff if you are unsure.”
Appointments can be made through the NHS national booking system. Visit hampshiresouthamptonandisleofwightccg.nhs.uk or call 119. There is also a helpline on 0300 561 0018.
