Home on Trisillian Way in Walkford, which featured in BBC sitcom One Foot in the Grave, is up for sale with Mitchells

A WALKFORD home which featured prominently in 1990s BBC sitcom One Foot in the Grave is up for sale with a £337,500 price tag.

Although the interior shots were filmed in a studio, the three-bedroom terraced property at 4 Tresillian Way was used for filming the exterior of Victor and Margaret Meldrew’s residence.

Iconic scenes included the cantankerous pensioner discovering his car in a skip, and his neighbour machine-gunning scores of garden gnomes in front of the house.

The 920sqft property, which is currently on the market with Mitchells Estate Agents in Highcliffe, is described as a “well presented, terraced house” with a “sunny back garden”.

Ben Jenkins, from Mitchells, said the property was last marketed around 10 years ago. He said: “I remember back then it caused a bit of stir because it was Victor Meldrew’s home.

“We hadn’t really thought it would get much attention this time around but then the BBC got in touch to do a story and the next day it was in the national newspapers.

“It’s all been a bit crazy.”

In one famous scene Victor, played by Richard Wilson, was buried up to his neck in the back garden, with actor Angus Deayton lifting a flower pot to discover him.

Ben recalls that his brother Ray was living on neighbouring Clinton Close in the 1990s when filming took place on Tresillian Way. He said: “He remembers the catering truck being there, and particularly filming for one Christmas special when they sprayed the whole close with snowy stuff.”

The property is currently vacant and is described as well maintained with a modern kitchen/dining room leading to a UPVC conservatory extension. It has a garage on a nearby block.

Ben added: “The exterior of the house – and indeed the whole terrace – looks just as it did when they were filming One Foot in the Grave back in the 1990s. It’s nice to sell a house with a little claim to fame – it was quite a buzz in Walkford when they were filming.”
