Pennington’s Clock House Nursery School in The Square praised for ‘warm and nurturing’ approach

A CHILDREN’S nursery at Pennington has been given a glowing report in its first Ofsted inspection a year after opening.

The Clock House Nursery School in The Square was visited in February, and inspectors said staff provide a “warm and nurturing approach” that enables children to flourish.

Staff also ensure children have many opportunities to develop their physical skills, the report stated, adding that they also promoted the youngsters’ fine motor skills well.

“Children develop good social skills. Staff support them well to understand the behaviour that is expected,” said the report.

However, it added that, at times, group activities were “not planned fully successfully” to take all children's needs into account: “For example, on occasion group activities are too large for all children to be involved,” inspectors said.

The nursery was rated ‘good’ in all categories, and also in its overall effectiveness.

Director Esha Kapila said: “We are delighted with the outcome of our very first Ofsted inspection, particularly as it comes only a year after opening the Clock House.

“As a family, we have extensive experience within the childcare industry having owned and operated for over 30 years.

“After opening our sibling nursery, Twynham House, in Christchurch in September 2020, it was of paramount importance for our ethos to extend across the border into Pennington.

“This has been recognised in our report, where the inspector was extremely impressed with the dedication of our team, the provision we are offering and most importantly how happy our children are.”

She added: “We are incredibly proud of the environment we have created and the strong and dedicated team we have at the helm, driving our ethos forward.”
