Weather warning as wind and rain set to batter New Forest and Christchurch
A WEATHER warning has been issued for Friday, with rain and wind likely to cause disruption across the New Forest and Christchurch.
The yellow alert, put out by the Met Office today (Wednesday), said expected gusts of up to 65mph and rainfall up to 50mm may cause flooding and affect transport.
The warning affects nearly the entire stretch of the south coast, from Cornwall, through Dorset and Hampshire, across to Sussex, and will hit between 3am to 8pm.
The agency said flooding of “a few homes and businesses in urbanised areas” is likely, driving conditions will be dangerous, and some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and large waves
Delays are also expected to rail, air and ferry services, it added.
