NFDC provides funds for warm spaces for people to escape the cold

FUNDING has been awarded to 15 New Forest organisations to provide "warm spaces" for people worried about putting their heating on at home.

The district council has allocated each location between £200 and £1,000 to contribute towards running costs.

They will be open to the public to stay and keep warm for a minimum of four hours a week until March 2023.

Ryan Stevens, NFDC service manager for revenues and benefits, said: “It’s been uplifting to see so many organisations across the district wanting to open their doors to offer a safe and warm welcome to residents over these winter months.”

Some venues will also offer hot drinks, activities and other services such as information and advice.

There is still funding available for any groups who would like to offer a warm space.

They can apply via www.newforest.gov.uk/warmspacesgrant
