Win one of four family tickets to Brickosaurs at Marwell Zoo

AS well as being home to more than 140 species of animals and birds, Marwell Zoo has unveiled a collections of life-sized dinosaurs built from over 2-million Lego bricks.

Brickosaurs is a display of 36 dinosaurs which will be expanded with a further 14 before the summer holidays.

This week the A&T has joined forces with Marwell Zoo to give away four family tickets to see the the Brickosaurs face to face.

Billed as an interactive expedition, one of the highlights of the new display is a model of an enormous eight-metre T-rex which has been installed in the courtyard in front of Marwell Hall.

Bordon-based Lego brick building company Bright Bricks which will create the exhibit estimate that the incredible display has taken its team of professional builders more than 10,000 hours to construct.

There is also a programme of themed activities and hands-on experiences in Brickosaurs Base Camp, meet and greet opportunities with ‘Bruce’ the Brickosaurs keeper who share his dino stories and opportunities to see Spike the new stegosaurus mascot.

The Brickosaurs Base Camp features enormous Lego pits where children and adults can get involved with their own model making fun and a giant Megalosaurus head which youngsters can step inside for a photo opportunity. There is also face-painting during weekends and school holidays.

Visitors can also pick up a free prehistoric trail and spotters guide with information on the installations.

Brickosaurs is open daily and included in zoo admission, running until 1st September.

Marwell Zoo commercial director Sean Mannie said: “Brickosaurs has been two years in the planning and it’s fantastic to see it all finally come to fruition. It’s a genuine world-first at Marwell Zoo and the ‘must-see’ family day out for 2019.

“The event combines all the things younger and older guests will love; world-class animal experiences, dinosaurs in full technicolour and Lego bricks, with even more to come.

“We have around 36 Brickosaur sculptures, in 16 displays around the zoo, and even more arriving for the summer holidays."

Ed Diment, creative director at Bright Bricks, said: “We have never attempted anything on this scale before. It is by far our biggest ever collection and now they are in place around Marwell Zoo, they look even more spectacular.”
