CHILDHOOD friends from the Isles of Orkney are set to play an evening of festive folk at Forest Arts in New Milton.

Making up the award-winning band Fara are Jennifer Austin, Kristan Harvey, Jeana Leslie and Catriona Price, who together play three fiddles and a piano. Their music is described as beautiful but fiery and is strongly rooted in their Scottish heritage.

With vibrant arrangements full of rich harmonies, energetic fiddle playing and driving piano, the members of Fara have won a string of nominations and awards since 2015 including the BBC Young Musician of the Year, The German Critics Award and were finalists as BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

Their music is a mixture of self-penned and traditional Orkney tunes featuring powerful vocals and drawing on their combined musical experiences and longstanding friendship.

Last year the group toured a string of UK venues, and enjoyed the experience so much they decided to go on the road again this December.

They are set to appear in New Milton on Wednesday 11th December and tickets are £15 each – but we’ve teamed up with Forest Arts to give one lucky reader the chance to win a pair of tickets by answering the question in this week’s leisure competition.

For a chance to win this prize pick up a copy of the 15th November edition of the A&T - in the shops now.

The closing date for entries is Friday 22nd November.
