BIRDS of prey will be displaying their striking talents as the British Falconry & Raptor Fair returns to the Broadlands Country Show among an extravaganza of fun this May Day bank holiday weekend.
And quick-thinking A&T readers can win one of five pairs of tickets up for grabs by emailing the answer to a simple question at the end of this story by 9am on Monday 29th April.
There is something for everyone at the Romsey event with arena entertainment, side attractions, live music all weekend, food and drink and lots of activities over the bank holiday weekend of Sunday and Monday 5th and 6th May.
Attractions in the Realtree main arena include the Knights of Middle England jousting on horseback, the Joseph Pearce Fire Show, Stannage International Stunt Show and Dorset Axemen.
Gundog events include the Chudleys Gundog Championships, more canine action with terriers and lurchers, the gunmakers’ roadshow, food village and chefs’ demo theatre, craft marquee and a Kids Zone.
Day admission costs £13 adults, £6 children (6-16) and £35 family (two adults and three children), with free parking, dogs welcome and camping available.
Almost an event in its own right, the falconry fair promises displays from some of the country’s leading falconers as well as an array of exhibition stands for enthusiasts and visitors wanting to discover more about these incredible birds of prey.
Among the experts putting their birds through their paces is Tony Puddle of the South Wilts Falconry based on the edge of the New Forest National Park.
A practicing falconer for over 18 years, he brings owls, hawks and falcons used in pest control as well as the ancient field sports.
There will also be the Mercer Falconry, Female Falconers’ Club, and Martin Whitley Dartmoor Hawking.
Along with expert demonstrators, the British Falconry & Raptor Fair also welcomes in lots of falconry retailers, manufacturers such as professional lure make Bull X, and societies who will be attending across the weekend and bringing along product ranges, expect knowledge and contacts for those wanting to discover more.
