AN elderly woman has died in hospital 12 days after being involved in a collision between a car and a van at a busy junction on a main road between Milford and Lymington.

The smash involving a black Nissan Qashqai, in which the 90-year-old from Hordle was the passenger, and a yellow Volkswagen Crafter van.

It happened at the junction of the A337 Christchurch Road and the B3058 Lymington Road in Everton.

Paramedic teams including the Hampshire and Isle of Wight air ambulance responded to the incident, which took place around 10.55am on Wednesday 6th March.

As reported in the A&T, the pensioner was taken by land ambulance to Southampton General Hospital with two other casualties.

They were all thought at the time not to be in life-threatening conditions. However, she became unwell in hospital and subsequently died on Monday.

A Hampshire Police spokesperson said her next of kin were being supported by specialist officers.

Officers investigating the circumstances of the collision are urging witnesses to come forward.
