Woman died after collision with lorry outside Premier Inn hotel
A WOMAN has died from injuries she sustained in a serious road traffic collision with a lorry near the Christchurch Premier Inn on Friday.
The local victim, who was in her 80s, was at the wheel of a grey Mazda 6 which was involved in a collision with a white Volvo lorry at 10.29am on Barrack Road, outside the Premier Inn hotel.
Her car then collided with a wall of the hotel and a number of parked vehicles.
After she was freed from her vehicle car she was airlifted to hospital. However, she was pronounced dead later that night.
The victim’s family has been informed and is being supported by specialist trained officers from Dorset Police.
Sgt Fern Graham, from Dorset Police’s traffic unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.
“We are continuing to investigate this collision to establish the full circumstances and I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police or anyone with dashcam footage to contact us.”
