Calmore woman (32) dies after car crash on A326 Marchwood bypass
A WOMAN has died from her injuries after a car careered off the A326 Marchwood bypass early on Saturday morning.
As reported by the A&T, five people were hurt when a silver Vauxhall Corsa left the carriageway around 4am as it travelled towards Hythe.
They were all taken by ambulance to Southampton General Hospital, with two said to have been in a serious condition.
Police have now confirmed one of them, a 32-year-old woman from Calmore, has passed away. Her family is being supported by specialist officers.
The road was shut between the A35 Main Road and Bulls Copse Road as emergency crews dealt with the collision. It remained closed for around nine hours while an investigation was carried out.
Witnesses are being urged to come forward if they can help piece together the circumstances.
A Hampshire police spokesperson said: “Police were called just after 4am, after a silver Vauxhall Corsa left the carriageway on the A326 driving towards Hythe.
“Officers attended and the road was closed while the incident was dealt with.
“Five people reported injuries, with two of those suffering serious injuries in the collision.
“Sadly, a 32-year-old woman from Calmore passed away as a result of her injuries.”
The spokesperson added: “We are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have any information about the incident which assists our enquiries.”
