Samantha Norris of Ringwood jailed over possessing thousands of indecent images of children
A WOMAN from Ringwood has been jailed for two years after she admitted possessing thousands of indecent pictures of children.
Police discovered Samantha Norris (56) of Euston Grove had more than 16,000 images on two computers.
Of these, 2,000 stills and 121 videos were classified as category A – the most severe.
She was jailed at Southampton Crown Court after previously pleading guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children, one of possessing prohibited images of children, and possessing an extreme pornographic image.
She was cleared at an earlier trial of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, and of indecent exposure.
Judge Nicholas Rowland handed down a two-year prison sentence after ruling Norris posed a high risk of harm to children.
Norris, who is transgender, was made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order, which imposes conditions designed to prevent reoffending, for 10 years.
She will be placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years and banned from working with children and vulnerable adults.
