Met Office yellow alert for strong winds to hit New Forest and Christchurch Wednesday 12th April
THE New Forest and Christchurch are set for another wind battering tomorrow (Wednesday), according to the Met Office.
After a blustery weekend, the national weather agency has given a yellow warning that more is on the way, with gusts of up to 70mph possible, along with heavy rain.
Delays are likely to road, rail, air and ferry transport, and there may be short-term loss of power to homes or businesses.
Coastal routes and communities, and sea fronts, will be affected by spray and large waves.
A Met Office spokesperson said: "West or north-west winds are expected to increase during Wednesday morning, then remain strong for much of the day.
"Gusts of 40-50mph are expected widely within the warning area, but some coastal areas could see gusts above 60-70mph during Wednesday morning.
"Outbreaks of heavy rain or showers will accompany the strong winds."
The alert is in place from 6am to 8pm.
