The Met Office issues yellow warning for heavy rainfall across some parts of the New Forest on Friday as Storm Babet blows in




HEAVY rainfall could bring disruption to some parts of the New Forest on Friday as Storm Babet arrives, the Met Office is warning.

The organisation has issued a yellow warning from 6am until 8pm for London and south east England, bringing a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings.

Spray and flooding is likely to lead to difficult driving conditions and there is a small chance of some road closures.

The Met Office is also warning that where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays to or cancellations of public transport services.

A more severe red warning for "exceptional and persistent" rain and wind across parts of east Scotland also warns of a "danger to life".

It marks the first time a red warning for rain has been issued in the UK since Storm Dennis in February 2020.
