Eco campaigner Marysia Skibinska Tunney raises more than £600 in paddleboarding challenge in support of Surfers Against Sewage
A YOUNG eco campaigner has raised more than £600 after completing a 12-hour paddleboarding challenge in support of Surfers Against Sewage.
Marysia Skibinska Tunney challenged herself to spend 12-hours paddleboarding around Lymington River, while talking to people about the work of the ocean conservation charity.
Her mum Kasia said: ”Marysia talked to just over 100 people and collected over £500. It was a really fun day.”
Additional donations online have now pushed the total to more than £600.
“We started at 7am and, throughout the day, Marysia talked to a lot of people who either have their boats on the river or marina or were visiting,” Kasia added. “She also spent two hours on the Lymington Town Quay.” .
“We had really lovely feedback from people, one guy said ‘We need more people like this in this country!’
Marysia started her challenge at 7am setting off from the Royal Lymington Yacht Club, and continue paddling until 7pm. She took two 15-minute breaks to use the toilet and refill her water bottle, with Kasia delivering lunch and snacks on a support boat.
As well as paddleboarding, Marysia also collected waste from the river as she went.
