Letter: Car use is still the only choice for some




SIR – I won’t enter the cyclists/motorists debate but wanted to address one point in Tim Kilsby's letter (Letters, 2nd September).

Yes, it would be great if more people used public transport or bikes, perhaps (or even walked), but sadly this ignores the plight of the elderly, infirm or disabled, of whom there are many in this area.

I know because I am chairman of Brockenhurst Care Cars.

For these people those options are impossible, so they have to rely upon their own cars (if still driving), alternatively kind friends or neighbours, our services or those of our sister organisation BrockCare.

This will inevitably involve car use in every case.
