Letter: Easter ruined by logic-defying parking tickets at St Thomas Street car park, Lymington

SIR – Aided by the excellent weather and delightful home cooking, the visit of younger members of our family went particularly well last weekend... until Sunday morning.

My wife and our son both parked in the St Thomas Street car park whilst celebrating Easter communion at St Thomas Church only to discover, an hour later, that both cars were adorned with yellow penalty charge notices.

The same applied to half of the cars in the car park – whose owners clearly shared my wife’s logic.

Easter Sunday is second only to Christmas Day in terms of retailing being virtually forbidden and shop staff having, by law, a well-earned day off, and the public was entitled to assume that town centre car parks would be free that day.

So, why did NFDC choose to ruin many visitors’ days and Easter enjoyment?

Peter Stone,

Lymington
