Letter: Going to war on burnt-out cars in New Forest

SIR – we are sadly used to seeing burnt out hulks on the evening news as the Ukrainian people bravely defend themselves against Putin's war of aggression.

But now, we have to seemingly see similar images in the New Forest.

Earlier in the summer, thanks only to the swift action of residents and the fire brigade, at the height of the dry summer, disaster was averted when a car was torched in Bank.

Burnt-out cars have become a more common sight in the Forest over the past few years (stock picture)

That is, however, where the swift action ended.

Despite repeated requests to have the burnt out carcass removed, none of the responsible authorities have lifted a finger. It is attracting rubbish, risks injuring animals and is unsightly.

The Ukrainians use their tractors to tow away Russian tanks. Do the residents of Bank need to do the same and deposit this hulk in the council car park?
