Letter: How about a new ping-pong table rather than jubilee mural?

SIR – With the continuing saga in regards to the New Milton mural commemorating the Queen's platinum jubilee (A&T, 17th June), would not the money be better spent on a new vandal-proof outdoor table tennis table for the rec that is sorely missed by the group that regularly used it until it was trashed?

This piece of equipment could have a plaque attached to it mentioning the jubilee and it would be enjoyed by young and old and serve as a functional reminder rather than a mural that you cannot actually "do" anything with except look at it.

Charlotte Hill,
New Milton
