Letter: How dare they close Fenwick hospital in Lyndhurst
SIR – In the last week I was told by my local GP practice that I had been referred for respiratory treatment to the Fenwick clinic.
But the number I was given was out of order. I Googled the clinic only to see that the Fenwick, which used to be a cottage hospital, is now permanently closed!
And, of course, now we all know, through your paper, that it has been closed (A&T, 20th January) but clearly without telling local NHS practices.
I'm not surprised nobody knows. We have a massive and scary life-threatening crisis in our NHS.
How dare they close hospitals when we clearly do not have enough beds for patients, and yet we seem to have several closed hospitals in our area.
They recently closed Poole A&E which has a crisis effect for us as neighbours, with less emergency beds available.
It appears that the government wants to wreck our NHS.
Otherwise they would pay properly to attract more staff, and they would fund the NHS to meet our needs, physical and mental.
If they fail to do that, increased illness will cost the country more.
This is why there will be a Day of Action across the country on Saturday 28th January. Do join in on our local march and rally, on Saturday 28th January at midday at Bargate, Southampton.
