Letter: Taking pleasure in the simple things

SIR – On a recent Friday morning as I drove through Brockenhurst I had to stop at the zebra crossing.

Whilst waiting for the pedestrians to cross, I watched a toddler dressed in yellow oil skins and wellies jumping up and down in a puddle. Mum watched on as the little one enjoyed him or herself.

Let's all jump in life's puddles
Let's all jump in life's puddles

I would like to thank the two of them for this.

Just for a short while Covid, Boris Johnson, Afghanistan etc disappeared from my life as I was reminded of the joy to be found in the simplest of things.

P.D. Merrick,
Lymington
