Letter: Time for a multi-storey car park in Lymington
SIR – The new parking meters on the high street in Lymington are less of an eyesore than predicted and even more of an inconvenience than anticipated.
Worse, there is still a shortage of parking for the increasing vehicle traffic in the town.
The solution is to build a multi-storey car park (much of it underground) behind the now almost redundant town hall. The access from Avenue Road leads straight off an incoming road artery and it would be completely invisible.
It could provide cheap parking for all residents currently clogging local roads with their cars, expensive parking for visitors and a bicycle hire system for all.
It could be funded by the same people who found it necessary to install parking meters on the high street.
