Letter: Where's the problem with having well-run New Forest campsites?
SIR – I just read the latest New Forest Notes (A&T, 2nd December) with the headline “Profitable campsites will come at huge cost to nature”
I think Anthony is being a bit dramatic here. Years ago, you were allowed to camp anywhere in the New Forest. Nowadays, quite rightly, it’s restricted to well-run campsites using a tiny percentage of the New Forest area.
So I can’t see what the problem is.
We bring in business for the local businesses and it’s good for our mental health.
And surely this is better for the environment and whatever, rather then kicking all campers out and having loads more day trippers coming in?
The days of just having the odd horse and cart (as nice as it sounds) roaming the New Forest are long gone.
