Letter: Why invest in industrial units over council homes?

SIR – New Forest District Council is investing nearly £11m of taxpayers' money into land at Ringwood for industrial units (A&T, 20th May), claiming that is a good investment when we are into what might turn out to be a long recession!

How many council homes could have been built for £11m? Quite a lot, on land probably owned by local authorities and paid for by us.

How many industrial units and commercial premises lie empty across the UK? Far too many.

Crow does not have easy access to the A31, so more traffic on narrow lanes!

Anyone would think Boris Johnson was running NFDC. Spend, spend and let the rest of us pick up the tab.
