Letters: Always queues at Barclays branches being closed

SIR – I’m bemused. Barclays closed their Hythe branch even though there was always a queue when I went.

Then I was told to use the Totton branch.

So even though I had to endure more queues when I went, they decided to close it (A&T, 7th July 2022).

But they did not have the courtesy to tell me.

So then I used my next nearest at Lymington.

And, low and behold, even though I’ve had to queue every time I’ve been, they are going to close it (A&T, 17th March).

I don’t expect them to inform me, and they can stick their online banking where the sun don’t shine.

It’s about time banks stopped treating their customers with contempt.

They don’t even build houses with floorboards anymore, so I can’t keep my money under there!

Can anyone point me to a bank that is not closing its facilities so I can transfer to them?

E. Holtham,

Holbury

SIR – It was with great sadness that I read the notice in the Barclays Bank window in Lymington informing us that the branch would be closing on 15th June (A&T, 17th March).

My wife and I have been loyal customers over the last 48 years.

Incidentally, the person who wrote the notice will always find work in children’s fiction.

Fortunately, we have in Lymington a building society that I shall be hot-footing to.

On a brighter note, at least with any luck, it will free up another property for a charity shop.

Lymington is fast becoming a “must go to” place for charity shops.

A.C. Knight,

Lymington
