Letters: No complaints about New Forest tip
THERE have been several letters recently complaining about the tip facilities at the tip at Efford.
I cannot but disagree.
I have lived in New Milton for 53 years, and well remember the times I have sat for an hour behind 30-40 cars, waiting for access to dispose of rubbish.
I am in my 80s, and by no means a computer wizz-kid, but the new system is simple and easy to use.
I never seem to have more than three or four cars in front of me on arrival, and the staff are well organised and helpful.
When booking I have always found a slot available that is suitable.
I certainly do not concur with a lot of the new systems – try phoning a government department – but this one works very efficiently.

YOUR correspondent, Tom Curry, is obviously not thinking his criticism of the Efford waste disposal site booking system through (A&T Letters 21st Jun).
If word got out that anyone could turn up at the tip unheralded and be allowed to deposit their waste, things would rapidly revert to where they were before, with hours of waiting the result.
If the vacant spaces observed by Mr Curry were indeed due to people ‘not turning up’ then his ire should be directed not at the system but at those thoughtless, selfish, inconsiderate individuals who have failed to cancel their booking.
Sadly, this willingness to criticise the ‘system’ rather than to lay any blame squarely on the responsible individuals is becoming more manifest and resulting in many of our society’s ills and shortcomings today.
