Letters: Romance is still alive and well in New Milton
Having parked in a local store in New Milton to start my shopping, I couldn’t believe the sight so early in the morning: there stood an entire crowd of males, shuffling impatiently, as if they were waiting for a football game to kick off.
But no. They were waiting for entry to the store.
The doors slid open and immediately there was a rush and straight to the the flower display where these same gents, both young and old, including two uniformed schoolboys, with a cheeky yet embarrassing grin about them, jostled to select a floral bouquet of their choice, which was, without exception, one hundred percent red roses for each individual.
Striding hurriedly to the counter with their purchase, they went out on their way with an excited eagerness.
Of course, it was Friday 14th February – Valentine’s Day.
One thing is for sure, without a doubt, romance is very much alive and well it seems in this area of New Milton, and long may it continue.
