Talking Newspaper's noisy celebration of 1,000th edition
A TALKING newspaper has celebrated the 1,000th edition of its audio news round-up service for the visually impaired.
New Milton and Lymington Talking News is a charity that provides dictated stories from local publications that are recorded onto USB drives and also posted online. It provides the service in the New Forest and Christchurch.
Papers covered by the service include the A&T.
Guests attended the reception at the organisation’s headquarters in the tennis pavilion in New Milton, where speeches were made thanking all those involved.
Trustee Adam Singfield said: “We were all delighted to see so many people turn up to help celebrate the 1,000th edition of the talking newspaper, from one of the founding members of the newspaper to new volunteers and listeners.
“Since the inception of the service in 1999, the support of our volunteers, organisations and individuals in the New Milton and Lymington areas have enabled us to bring the local news each week to blind and partially-sighted listeners throughout the New Forest.
“We hope for a similar turn-out for the 2,000th edition.”
