AS Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme proved, we are a nation that loves to dine out.

Now there is a chance to try a range of different cuisines in a fun and unique environment in the form of pop-up restaurants in Lymington.

For the whole of September there will be a range of eateries hosting diners Thursdays to Sundays at the park in Bath Road.

Organisers of the event, which was due to kick off yesterday (Thursday), say it is “designed for these unusual times” and promise a “vibrant and exciting outdoor space serving up street-food-inspired menus with ice cold beers and beverages along with live music”.

Covid-19 safety measures, including social distancing and booking, will be in place and there will be lots of covered spaces if the weather turns.

Entry is free but booking a table for six will cost a £20 deposit, which also brings table service. Tables are for two-hour slots and the deposit will come off the total bill.

A spokesperson said: “We will have a mix of tent-covered and open-air spaces for you all to sit back and relax in.

“Where possible we have reached out to local restaurants and mobile caterers to trade at our event, who are all offering delicious dining, recreating dishes from their own menus.

“This is very much a family event and a chance for families that have been through lockdown to venture out into a socially-distanced environment and enjoy some tasty food and delicious drinks.”
