75-year-old who died in A337 head-on crash named as Robert Griffith-Jones
THE victim of a fatal head-on crash between two vehicles on the A337 near Lyndhurst has been named as Robert Griffith-Jones.
An inquest into the death of the 75-year-old opened at Winchester Coroner’s Court this week, and confirmed the cause as multiple injuries and a road traffic collision. The hearing was adjourned for a full inquest on 24th February next year.
As reported in the A&T, the incident took place at around 2.30pm on 16th June on the stretch of Romsey Road between the village and Bartley.
It involved a Land Rover Discovery and a Honda Jazz, and the road was closed for several hours. Firefighters from Lyndhurst and Brockenhurst responded, but Mr Griffith-Jones was declared dead at the scene.
In the aftermath Hampshire police urged those who saw the crash, near the New Forest Hunt Club and Kennels, to come forward and said they were keen to see any dash cam footage which could help their investigation.
“Officers are keen to speak with anyone who may have witnessed it, or who may have dash cam of the incident or either of the vehicles on the A337,” the constabulary said.
Those with information should call 101, quoting 44200217682, the force added.
