10-man Lymington Town earn a point against Bristol Manor Farm
Southern League Division One South
Bristol Manor Farm FC 0
Lymington Town FC 0
LYMINGTON Town were held to a goalless draw at Bristol Manor Farm despite playing with 10 men at The Creek for the last half an hour.
Both sides traded opportunities throughout the first half, and even after Harry McGrath received his marching orders, either side could have gone on to win as the final whistle came with the match still goalless.
Lymington's first chance came after a clever short corner preceded a decent cross, which found defender Tim Stephenson who headed over from close range.
Bristol Manor Farm were hanging on, and Lymington's Dom Thelen went close after escaping the defence, but his effort drifted wide.
Leigh-Gilchrist created Farm's best chance when his through ball released Owen Howe, but Ross Casey superbly saved his low shot.
Casey saw his side through a challenging spell just before the break, first saving a driven free-kick before smothering a low shot from striker Howe.
Thelan looked to have given Town the lead after the break when his looping shot evaded keeper Ben John. However, Sam Boulton made it back and cleared off the line.
With half an hour left, McGrath challenged the keeper for the ball, and referee Graham Pearce deemed the challenge worthy of a second yellow.
Despite playing at a numerical disadvantage, Lymington fashioned the game's next big chance when Craig Stanley's superb header was tipped onto the bar by John.
As the match progressed, Lymington understandably retreated into their half. With moments left, talented stopper Casey managed to parry away Kyle Tooze's superb effort to earn his side a point.
Lymington Town now turn their attention to their League Challenge Cup round one home fixture with Dorchester Town, who play a league higher in Southern League Premier South, tonight (Tuesday) at 7.45pm.
