NEW Milton Town stormed back to the top of the table on goal difference with a massive 8-1 victory over Amesbury Town at Bonnymead Park.

Paul Turner's men have been lethal in front of goal, and braces from Ben Cooper and Luke Stone and goals from Elliot Lines, Charlie Turner, Tyrell Sampson, and Tyler Rudd matched their biggest win of the season.

The Linnets have the sharpest attack in the division with 39 goals, six more than the next-best team, Downton.

New Milton made a decent start and should have found the net early doors before Lines nodded home captain Cooper's cross in the 15th minute. Rudd then fired home from an acute angle to make it 2-0.

Cooper then found the top corner with a spectacular fierce strike from 25 yards before Turner matched his effort, volleying home a corner from 18 yards out.

Luke Stone grabbed the final word of the half with an ice-cool finish past Amesbury Town's Oliver Marriot to make it 5-0 at the break.

Amesbury stemmed the tide until the 65th minute, but there was nothing they could do when Elliott Pearce-Eavis jinked his way past three players and found Cooper, who made no mistake for his second.

Amesbury pulled one back soon after, but Stone volleyed home his second and Sampson completed the rout in the 74th minute to lift their side back to the league's summit.

New Milton Town are in action Tuesday (18th October) at 8pm against East Cowes Victoria, and then on Saturday against Petersfield Town at 3pm.
