BLACKFIELD & Langley secured a 5-2 win over local rivals Hythe & Dibden to book a place in the quarter-finals of the Hampshire FA Senior Invitational Cup.

Despite the one-sided scoreline, Hythe temporarily had their hosts worried with two quickfire goals, narrowing the score to 3-2. However, Blackfield & Langley put the game to bed with late goals to secure second place in group two.

Blackfield's impressive form, which saw them win three of their four group matches, continued with an early goal from Sami Makhloufi in the 16th minute.

The hosts continued to have the majority of possession, and they doubled their advantage just before the break when an unmarked Mitchell Speechley-Price scored from close range.

Hythe & Dibden looked more robust in the second half, but poor marking cost them again as striker Rudy Plummer made it 3-0.

Hythe scored two goals in quick succession to give them a glimmer of hope. Christos Papakonstantinou scored first on the hour mark before Diego Romero found the back of the net five minutes later.

With the game up for grabs, Speechley-Price ran through the defence to score his second to make it 4-2.

Blackfield's Dom Panesar-Dower beat the keeper with eight minutes left to clinch the win.

The win earned Blackfield a quarter-final match against fellow Sydenhams Wessex Premier Division side AFC Portchester, who topped group one with four wins from four.

Blackfield and Portchester's quarter-final winner will face the winner of Hartley Wintney vs New Milton Town.
