Brockenhurst parkrun: Adam Jundi and Charlotte Brown top finishers
FAMILIAR faces led the field home at the latest Brockenhurst parkrun, with Charlotte Brown finishing second overall behind Adam Jundi.
They were the first two across the line in the 78-strong event held in sunny but cool conditions.
Among them were 19 runners experiencing the village event for the first time, and three for whom it was their first-ever parkrun.
Brown, of Exeter University AC, led the women home for the eighth time – her third victory in four weeks – with a time of 20:04.
Jundi continued to stretch his lead on the table for the most first-place finishes, up to 88 now. His superb finishing time of 17:10 also produced the highest male age grade score.
However, GB triathlete W60 Jill Rogers of Lymington Tri Club set the highest overall score. Rogers recently returned from Portugal, where she won W60 bronze in the European Aquathlon Championships.
The first junior was M10 Ollie Howes, who finished seventh with a 22:16 parkrun PB, while W11 Lucy Chanter was the first girl, just eight seconds off her PB.
There were also personal bests for W20 Ellie Pritchard, W25 Milly Shearer, M55 Mark Harris, W25 Georgina Worsfold, W10 Leila Anne, W30 Abbey Veal, M10 Alexander Thompson, M50 Ian Thompson, W50 Clare Eglin, W45 Rebecca Collins, M30 Jonny Evans, and M30 Peter Geary.
Run director Peter Wilson and his volunteer helpers set out the course at the last minute after the usual plastic stakes and parkrun flag went missing.
The other volunteers were Ian Thompson, Maxine Slade, Charles Fox, Mike Jurd, Peter Lay, Katrin Pritchard, Michael McCabe, Mike Smith, Keith Mitchell, Darryl Stevens, Stewart Chanter, Peter Wilson, Alexander Thompson, Gavin Duckett and Mick Anglim.
