Adam Jundi stormed around as the first finisher at the latest Brockenhurst parkrun, with New Forest Runners and Lymington Triathlon Club member Gemma Russhard leading the women




In dry conditions and sunshine, 77 people took on the latest Brockenhurst parkrun on Saturday morning, with Adam Jundi storming to a first-place finish over a minute ahead of the next participant.

Jundi, a long-time Brockenhurst parkrunner, led the field home for a remarkable 96th time in a time of 17:16 while setting the highest age grade score, 60 seconds ahead of Lymington Triathlon Club’s Paul Russhard (18:16).

Hardley Runners’ Carl Hall, running in the VM55-59 category, ran a personal best (PB) of 18:44 to take third.

New Forest Runners and Lymington Triathlon Club member W40 Gemma Russhard led the ladies home for the 21st time in a new Brockenhurst PB of 19:19. It was her 57th Brockenhurst run and her 243rd parkrun, so she’s not far away from her green 250th run top.

Russhard set the highest female age grade score, with VW40-44 Lisa Grasham (21:21) and New Forest Runners’ VW55-59 Jackie Ferrier (23:32) rounding out the top three places in the women’s race.

Crossing the line as the first-placed junior was M11 Travis Vanjara, who ran a new parkrun PB of 19:08 to take the line honours for a second time while finishing as the fifth-placed finisher.

He led JM10 Taylor Vingoe (22:07) and his younger brother, M10 Zack Vanjara (37:55), while the only participant in the girls’ ranks was JW11-14 Emer Leavey (42:06).

Volunteer W50 Alison Moores earned her purple 25 Volunteer top after helping with the close-down. Moores has also run Brockenhurst 151 times since 2015, with Saturday being her 174th parkrun.

The event saw 19 first-timers at Brockenhurst, while three took on their first-ever parkrun. They were W50 Rachel Hills, W50 Claire Leavey and W25 Robyn Evans.

At the top of the most parkruns table was Brockenhurst regular M75 Alan Horswell, who ran his 302nd Brock parkrun and his 476th in total.

Representatives of 10 different clubs took part, with New Forest Runners topping the list with 15 finishers.

Brockenhurst parkrun started on 25th May 2013. Since then, 16,633 people have completed 65,619 parkruns covering 328,095 km, including 8,921 new PBs. A total of 809 individuals have volunteered 7,731 times.

The organisers gave their thanks to the 17 volunteers who made the 523rd event possible. They were Paul Pearse, Mike Jurd, Peter Lay, Katrin Pritchard, Gail Walters, Alison Moores, Caroline Barnfield, Steve Wilks, Stewart and Lucy Chanter, Voria Miller, Charlotte Rajakaruna, Vivienne Baxter, Stephen and Deborah Sutch, Rachel Hills, and Mick Anglim.
