Gig in the Garden raises over £20,000 for Oakhaven hospice in Pennington




A FESTIVAL-style fundraising event has raised more than £20,000 for a local hospice.

Gig in the Garden was held in the grounds of Oakhaven with music by All About ABBA, Boogie Bumpers and Groovality.

More than 650 people, some dressed in retro clothing, enjoyed a dance and a picnic which was prepared by staff in Oakhaven’s kitchen.

Thankfully the rain stayed away for most of the weekend and the sun shone too.

Stella Foster, senior events fundraiser, for the Pennington hospice said: “There were moments of joy, happiness and real emotion.

“A fabulous weekend was had by all.

“It was incredible to see so many people enjoying themselves dancing and singing and soaking up the amazing atmosphere.”

The event raised over £20,000 for the charity, with all money going towards Oakhaven supporting patients and loved ones both in the hospice and at homes throughout the New Forest and Waterside communities.

Thanks were given to supporters of the event which included Mornington Court, Cinnamon Care Collection and Shorefield Holiday Park.

Special gratitude was given to the “outstanding” team of volunteers who ensured the festival went well.

Ms Foster said: “A big thank you to everyone who made Gig in the Garden and incredible experience. From our amazing attendees, talented artists and dedicated staff to our volunteers, sponsors, and partners. Your presence and support made it an unforgettable weekend.”

She said she hoped it would become an annual event.
