A FINE bowling display from Lymington 1sts helped them to bounce back from their first 2025 league loss as they easily saw off Burridge 1sts at home on Saturday.

Fresh from a fine all-round performance the previous week, South African skipper Gareth Berg returned figures of 7-21 as Lymington got a 122-run victory.

With the hosts batting first, Ben Shoare soon found himself back in the pavilion, bowled by opening bowler Sullivan White (2-29) to leave Lymington 26-1.

Next to go was Mohammad Abbas for 22 from 25 balls, an innings which had included four fours. He was bowled by White’s opening bowling partner, Inayat Ullah (1-29).

White then promptly struck again when he castled Terry Crabb’s stumps for a 10-ball duck to leave the score at 42-3.

But that brought together wicketkeeper Robbie Hemmings and Ryan Scott, who shared a 77-run stand, before the latter was caught for 29 off Ben White (1-11) by Azimunnoor Chowdhury.

Berg was unable to replicate his 97 with the bat from their narrow loss to St Cross Symondians as he was bowled by Oliver Southon (1-40).

That left Lymington 152-5 with overs running out, only for Hemmings and Jovan Dhariwal to add some late impetus in their 187-5.

Hemmings finished unbeaten on 87 – an innings which included eight fours – with Dhariwal thrashing two boundaries in his 24 not out from 15 balls.

Now in the field, Hemmings’ impressive game continued when he caught Joe Collings-Wells for a four-ball duck from Edward Withington (1-23) to leave Burridge 1-1.

Berg then really took control of proceedings with some sensational bowling as Hemmings added another two catches behind the stumps.

Only wicketkeeper Toby Snell (19) and Sachin Suresh (14) made double figures with the bat, along with Daniel Stancliffe, who ended 20 not out.

But Albert Adkins (1-18) backed up his captain well before Abbas (1-3) took the final wicket to fall as No.11 White was caught behind by Hemmings to go for a five-ball duck in just the 21st over.

BLOB Lymington 1sts earned a six-wicket T20 Group West home win against Sway 1sts on Bank Holiday Monday.

Edward Withington’s 4-10 helped restrict the visitors to 117-6 from their allocation.

A swashbuckling 72 not out from 47 balls from Gareth Berg then saw Lymington across the line with more than five overs to spare.
