Daisy Johnson leads Brockenhurst parkrun women home in seventh run




On a cold but calm Saturday morning, Daisy Johnson led the women’s field home at the Brockenhurst parkrun for the first time while 162 others ran, jogged and walked the 5k course.

Johnson, running in the W15 category, posted a parkrun personal best (PB) of 20:55 to earn the line honours in the women’s and junior field on just her seventh parkrun.

She crossed ahead of second-placed woman New Forest Junior AC’s Rachel Jones (22:21), while Catherine Forster (22:56) rounded off the podium.

The first finisher for a 28th time was M20 Callum Olden of Southampton AC, who ran a conservative 17:19, some way behind his Brock PB of 16:38. He led second-placed Max Blackburn (18:37) and Daniel Lloyd (19:11).

M15 Harry Brown, who has run all his 56th parkruns at the Brockenhurst event, led the boys home in 23:40.

Top of the age grade scoring was W60 Camilla Pearse of New Forest Runners, while her clubmate M65 Paul Loveridge set the highest male score.

New Forest Runners’ W25 Georgina Evans completed her 200th parkrun, with 71 of those coming at Poole, while first-time visitor M55 Graeme Woods ran his 25th.

A team of 20 volunteers made the 511th event possible. They were David Pink, Ellie Monks, Harriet and Matthew Dathan, John Hughes, Michael McCabe, Emma Holford, Keith Mitchell, Luisa Holt, Carys Gallagher, Rosemarie Osborn, Darryl Stevens, Victoria Miller, Oliver Eveleigh, Jack Prince, Andrew Johnson, Peter Wilson, William Baker, Sharon Herman, and Mick Anglim.
