LANGLEY Manor CC set itself up for a thrilling end of the season, with a 134-run win over Trojans leaving them four points away from capturing the final promotion spot.

The win allowed Langley Manor to leapfrog local rivals Sway, who went into the penultimate fixtures one point ahead in second, with the two sides meeting at Sway’s Jubilee Fields home.

Opener Jack Budd (43), with the assistance of Steve Harris (32) and James Purnell (59), made light of the task, reaching a formidable 233-9.

Opening pair Budd and Connor Browne (21) scored 55 before the former departed after Ameer Rashed took a superb catch off Nisar Ahmad (3-56).

However, Langley Manor continued to keep the scoreboard ticking over, and there were valuable contributions from Simon Peters (20 not out), Elliot Ponting (15), Jack Campbell (11) and Todd Garner (7).

Lowly Trojans offered little resistance, and Langley quickly dismissed them for just 99. Jamie Brown (3-18), Craig Renders (2-18), Peters (2-21) and Jack Campbell (2-1) overwhelmed the home batting, for whom only Sayed Agha and Jason Dean passed the 20-run mark.
