HINTON Admiral-based racing team Gearlink Kawasaki have finished on top of the podium with James Westmoreland at the penultimate round of the Quattro British Supersport Championship at the Donington Park GP Circuit.

In atrocious conditions, Westmoreland rode fantastically to claim his and the team’s first win of the shortened Covid-19 affected 2020 championship.

Gearlink Kawasaki had Westmoreland and Ben Currie racing.

In race one, Currie made a terrific start moving into second position before he slipped off on lap two.

Westmoreland gradually moved through the pack with the conditions catching out several riders including championship leader Rory Skinner. By the halfway mark he was in second place behind Lee Johnstone.

With four laps to go, Westmoreland increased the intensity before catching and passing Johnstone. He continued to push hard until Johnstone crashed out on the final lap to leave Westmoreland to take a well-deserved win.

Although the weather improved for the second race, the track was still greasy in parts. As the race drew to a close, Westmoreland finished in fourth with Currie in sixth.

The result moves Westmoreland up to second in the championship.
