Match report: Lymington Town FC hit for six in 6-0 one-sided Wessex League Division One defeat at the hands of Amesbury Town FC
Lymington Town came up against a clinical and ruthless Amesbury Town side who seemed to score with practically every chance they created in a devastating 6-0 victory.
A shell-shocked Lymington Town were 1-0 down after 13 minutes before finding themselves five goals down at half-time. Although they improved after the break, the damage had been done.
The opening goal came after just 13 minutes when Ally McCracken lined up for a free-kick just outside the area. McCracken whipped the ball across Nico Trojanowski to leave the net bulging.
Three minutes later, a cross was not dealt with properly, and the ball floated towards Harry Hale, who steadied himself and volleyed home.
McCracken grabbed a second from the penalty spot after 34 minutes before Ben Morris received the ball just past the halfway line. After running with the ball until he was 35 yards out, he swiped the ball over the keeper into the top corner.
With seconds left, Amesbury rubbed salt into the wounds with a fifth. McCracken’s free-kick found the head of Jack Vallis, who had no problem nodding the ball home.
Lymington were much better after the break, but they failed to find a goal, and Amesbury signed off with a sixth in the 82nd minute. After a long ball upfield, Josh Moore held up the ball before feeding Morgan Harvey, who drilled a fierce effort across the goal into the bottom corner.
Lymington Town have two home games coming up before the end of the season. First, they take on Folland Sports this Saturday before taking on local rivals and champions-elect New Milton Town next Saturday.
