Nearly 200 take on the latest Brockenhurst parkrun, with Callum Olden and Alice Rudd taking the honours




Despite the cold conditions, 193 people ran, jogged and walked the latest Brockenhurst parkrun, with Callum Olden speeding home first.

It was Olden’s 27th time leading the field home, with the Southampton AC member finishing just seven seconds away from his Brockenhurst personal best (PB) in 16:38.

He led by two minutes and 40 seconds, with New Forest Junior AC’s Matthew Forster (19:08) in second and Josh Jackson (19:17) in third.

Hardley Runners’ W35 Alice Rudd took the line honours for the women. It was her 52nd time, and she came home at 19:27, giving her an overall sixth-place finish.

The rest of the women’s top three were Emma Golebiowska (21:18) and Catherine Forster (22:58).

The first junior was M10 Oscar Selby-Nicholls of Lymington Athletes who celebrated leading all of the older juniors home with a parkrun PB of 21:29 on his 94th parkrun. In the girls category, W10 Amara Marden took the honours in her second parkrun, leading with a parkrun PB of 25:49.

The highest age grade score went to New Forest Runners’ M65 Paul Loveridge, while fellow running club member W75 Rosemarie Osborn was pipped by the narrowest margin by W55 Catherine Forster.

Representatives of 30 different clubs participated, with two clubs from Ashford, Kent, claiming the furthest travelled clubs. Both were represented by first time visitors with W45 Sarah Martins from Ashford Triathlon Club and M60 David Martins from Ashford Striders.

It was a special day for one volunteer, with W60 Katrin Pritchard of New Forest Runners running her 300th Brockenhurst parkrun. On top of that, she has volunteered 209 times at Brockenhurst, with 128 as a volunteer coordinator.

The other 19 volunteers who braved the cold conditions were Maxine Slade, Alice Rudd, Jo and Bea Murphy, Charlie Brown, Keith Mitchell, Alison Moores, Rosemarie Osborn, Stewart and Lucy Chanter, Ali Selby-Nicholls, Victoria Miller, Oliver Eveleigh, Jack Prince, Andrew Johnson, Barbara Walton, Mark Nash, Rory Mulholland, and Mick Anglim.
