CNC Christchurch and House of Pain’s Stef ‘The Wasp’ Vincent gave Reece Mould a scare in fight shown live on DAZN

CNC Christchurch and House of Pain’s Stef ‘The Wasp’ Vincent stepped into the ring as a heavy underdog on TV network DAZN and gave the much-favoured Reece Mould a scare.

Mould came into the fight with a record of 20 wins and three losses, but the 33-year-old pugilist more than held his own and, at one point, looked like he had his opponent in a world of trouble.

In the fourth round of a possible eight, Vincent landed a stiff uppercut that rocked Mould’s head back. Mould appeared stunned as the underdog unleashed a flurry that looked as if it could end the fight at any moment before Mould regained his composure.

At one point, the commentators commented on Mould’s suspected pre-fight thoughts, claiming he may have expected an easy fight while alluding to Vincent’s successes.

Vincent, who dreams of setting up a facility to coach youngsters in New Milton, caused a stir on social media before even stepping into the squared circle with his ring walk, with a fighting leprechaun leading him out.

“Within the last five fights, most of my opponents have been in the top 30 in the UK”, said Stef Vincent. “I thought number 15, Liam Dylan, and lost on two points, but I thought I did enough to win.

“However, the game is very corrupt, and I never get the win as I usually fight as the away side.”

Vincent fought as an amateur in Portsmouth as a youth, having around 30 bouts before moving to New Milton and ending up on the wrong path. Fighting gave him a path out, though. He took nine amateur fights before turning professional.

“I’ve had 28 pro fights in a year and a half, with five of them televised. I don’t always win, but I always give them a tough fight.

“I have developed a good reputation on the boxing circuit and would love a shot at the Southern area title at some point.

“I want to thank my boxing mum and dad, Danny and Gemma Ruegg, for all they have done for me. They really are like family to me.”

Vincent is on the lookout for potential sponsors who would like to help him in his dream of helping youngsters stay out of trouble by providing access to the sweet science.

Vincent added: “It would be great for the kids of New Milton to have somewhere to go, rather than a youth club because some kids just need to punch things!

“It would be in connection with CNC Christchurch and House of Pain, and I would love to get involved with local schools too, as I was one of those disruptive kids, and boxing helped me at an age where I probably would have ended up dead or in prison.”
