Callum Olden and Ellie Monks earn first-finisher places at latest Brockenhurst parkrun
ON a cold but calm morning in the New Forest, 190 people took in the latest Brockenhurst parkrun, with Callum Olden and Ellie Monks leading their fields home.
The first finisher across the line for the 26th time was M20 Callum Olden of Southampton AC, who was just 15 seconds away from his Brock personal best. His time of 16:46 set the highest male age grade score.
Brockenhurst parkrun women’s course record holder W40 Ellie Monks, also of Southampton AC, led the women across the line in 17:34, just five seconds away from her course record. It was the 49th time leading the women’s field, and the time earned her the event’s highest age grade score.
The first two juniors finished in the top eight, with M11 Joshua Ayling in fifth position with 19:42, just 10 seconds off his Brockenhurst personal best, and W11 Elsa Norris of New Forest Juniors AC being the first girl with a parkrun personal best of 20:02.
Representatives of 25 different clubs participated, with 16 Vegan Runners just edging the 15 from New Forest Runners.
The 505th Brockenhurst parkrun was made possible thanks to 23 volunteers. They were Paul Pearse, Mike Jurd, Alice Rudd, Sarah Richards, Peter Doughty, Lisa Milner, Keith Mitchell, Jean Wright, Darryl Stevens, Victoria Miller, Pol Newbery, Oliver Eveleigh, Jack Prince, Vivienne Baxter, Andrew Johnson, Barbara Walton, Katharine van Someren, Christopher Potter, Sharon Herman, Ben Caufield-Lawrence, Belinda Haughton, Caroline Puri, and Mick Anglim.
