Warning of heavy rain and high winds for New Forest and Christchurch extended to the weekend
A WEATHER alert for tomorrow, warning of heavy rain and high winds across the New Forest and Christchurch, has been extended to Saturday and Sunday.
The yellow alert, updated by the Met Office today (Thursday), warns that expected gusts of up to 65mph and rainfall up to 50mm tomorrow (Friday), will hang around over the weekend as well as extending further north.
The warning takes in most of England, with the government agency reiterating flooding of “a few homes and businesses in urbanised areas” is likely, affecting transport and bringing dangerous driving conditions.
Power cuts were also possible, and some shore routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and large waves.
Delays are expected to rail, air and ferry services, it added.
