Met Office issue yellow weather warning for heavy rain across the New Forest and Christchurch




A yellow weather warning has been issued for heavy rain across the New Forest and Christchurch later today (Monday).

The Met Office are warning the area will see between 20 and 40mm of rain between 6pm and 3am tomorrow.

“After a generally cloudy day with showers, more persistent rain will push north this evening and overnight,” it said. “Rain will be persistent and heavy at times, leading to some impacts on travel and infrastructure.”

The alert said bus and train services would “probably” be affected, with longer journey times predicted, and there will be spray and flooding on roads. It was also “likely” there would be “some interruption to power supplies and other services”.

Forecasters have said rain should ease from the south during the night, clearing to scattered showers by morning.
